Abstract: Two groups of learners are addressed:
Those who intend to write, read and speak in Persian;
and those who wish to communicate in Persian without
learning the script. The colloquial dialect of educated residents
of Tehran is being taught here.Divides into two sections.
Persian sounds and script are introduced along with some
exercises in the first section. The second section includes
sixteen lessons. Each lesson consists of two dialogues in
colloquial Persian. A glossary of new words, linguistic points
and exercises follow each dialogue, and a test including the
main points of each lesson comes at the end of each lesson.
The tittles of the lessons include: “Where is Your Home?”,
“Arriving in Tehran.”, “Shopping”, and “ Contacts with Others”.
At the end come the key to the exercises, a summary of grammatical
points, and a glossary of Persian-English and English-Persian in
three- Persian, English, and phonetic transcription of Persian words.
