Abstract:
Aims at finding out the necessity and ways
of teaching complex Persian sentences. It
consists of six chapters dealing with
research design, analysis of types of
Persian complex sentences, changing trends
in teaching syntax, and describing the
necessity of presenting syntactic
structures. In Chapter 4, a classification
of complex sentences along with some
suggestions for Persian learners is
provided. Chapter 5 describes the
methodology adopted and the results of the
study. There are 4 sample lessons for
teaching complex sentences to non-native
speakers of Persian in Chapter 6. Lessons
include a dialogue or a reading text
together with some exercises. The results
of the study indicate that presenting, and
making the students aware of such
structures, repetition of such sentences
have significantly increased the learners’
ability in reading comprehension. This can
be done through dialogues, and reading
materials that serve to teach a cultural
point.
