Abstract:
The article discusses the differences
between teaching Persian to Persian speakers
in the first grade of elementary school and
adult non-Persian beginners. The age factor
is an advantage of learning language for
young students, yet issues such as developed
brain ability in adults are not ignored
here. Having the language and alphabet
differences in mind, the author has
emphasized on the use of Persian as the
language of instruction; gives suggestions
for teaching the language to adult
non-Persian speakers. The suggestions
include: using phonetic alphabet at the
beginning, no use of any intermediate
language (unless for abstract and difficult
concepts), emphasizing on colloquial
Persian, and avoiding theoretical grammar
teaching.
