Abstract:
Aims to answer the following questions: (1)
Is the use of comprehension cues such as
/aha/, /ha/, /hm/, /bale/ the same among
native and non-native speakers of Persian?
(2) How do these cues affect verbal
communication? Includes 6 chapters:
introduction and objectives, review of
literature, the role of comprehension cues
in language teaching, method of
investigating comprehension cues, results
and summary, respectively. Concludes that
Persian learners under study do not use such
cues like native speakers and care must be
taken to teach them such cues through video
tapes and recordings of telephone messages
as they are deemed highly important in
verbal communication.
